SOUL intends to perform The Australian Premiere of the UK playwright Steve Waters’ The Contingency Plan  in 2025, subject to being granted Performing Rights.

This script is composed of two full length plays that encapsulate various viewpoints regarding Climate Change, offering a realistic balanced portrayal of attitudes of denial and the reality of the damaging environmental circumstances exhibited by the Climate Change Crisis.

This double bill offers varied scientific opinions, media aspects and of course, the varied political attitudes apparent within today’s reality! With the finality of the public’s confusion as the situation worsens.

WILL, the main protagonist is a Climate Scientist, as is his retired father, ROBIN. It was the latter character who had earlier predicted the sea level rising from his work in both the Antarctica and the Arctic Shelf, yet when ROBIN presented his findings to his government in the UK, Whitehall turned him away with deaf ears.

As Artistic Director, Alicia is intending to keep the play’s setting in the UK, simply to accentuate that this realistic issue is surrounding us all globally. This issue is one where we cannot run away from this calamity.

As this production is Australian’s premiere, our intention is to make Australians aware that this calamity is even more serious to our circumstances. This is because the play develops with atrocious repercussions.

SOUL is making awareness that the results of sea level rising in regards to the Arctic Shelf to the United Kingdom is disastrous yet it could be even more horrific in Australia due to having a much closer proximity to Antarctica. This allows us to be vulnerable to even worse state of affairs!

Therefore SOUL is bringing society together to work collaboratively, regardless of one’s political persuasion or one’s belief or disbelief about Climate Change, so that we protect those whom are unable to protect themselves.
